7. Web Analysis with Matomo (formerly PIWIK)

We use the open-source software tool Matomo by InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand (formerly PIWIK, www.matomo.org) to analyze the surfing behavior of our users. We operate Matomo without cookies, meaning no cookies are stored on your computer for the purpose of web analysis. For the analysis of website usage, IP addresses are collected. These are anonymized before storage. The software runs exclusively on servers located in Germany. The personal data of users is not stored. Data is not shared with third parties. The software is configured so that IP addresses are not fully stored, but 2 bytes of the IP address are masked (e.g., 192.168.xxx.xxx). This ensures that the truncated IP address cannot be linked to the accessing computer.

Data collection and storage can be revoked at any time with future effect by deactivating the checkbox below. In this case, an opt-out cookie will be placed in your browser, preventing Matomo from storing usage data. If you delete your cookies, this will also delete the Matomo opt-out cookie. The opt-out must be reactivated on a subsequent visit to our website. The legal basis for processing your personal data is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR.

The processing of your personal data allows us to analyze the surfing behavior of our users. By evaluating the data obtained, we can compile information about the usage of various components of our website. This helps us continually improve our website and its user-friendliness. These purposes constitute our legitimate interest in data processing under Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR. By anonymizing IP addresses, we adequately account for users’ interest in the protection of their personal data. Data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for our recording purposes.

You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.

8. Data Security
